Job 38:1,3-4 reads as follows:

Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said, Gird up now thy loins like a man; For I will demand of thee, and answer thou me. Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? Declare, if thou hast understanding.

Also, 38:8,11 reads as follows:

Or who shut up the sea with doors, When it brake forth, as if it had issued out of the womb? And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further: And here shall thy proud waves be stayed?

Finally, 38:25,27,41 reads as follows:

Who hath divided a watercourse for the overflowing of waters, Or a way for the lightning of thunder; To satisfy the desolate and waste ground; And to cause the bud of the tender herb to spring forth? Who provideth for the raven his food? When his young ones cry unto God, They wander for lack of meat.

When times come as Job is dealing, we must gird up our loins and press on.  All things happen for a reason and grow us to be more like Jesus.  The key is to remember the awesomeness of God and the reality of just how much power and control He has. To put it simply, we must focus on the just down right amazingness of He that created everything.

When I think of how God spoke in the O.T. to people it just boggles me, and I find myself wondering what I would do if I audibly heard God.  The truth is that we can hear God in our hearts through the Holy Spirit that is within us as followers of Jesus Christ. Remember God is in control, and everything is going to be ok.

I will never forget a young man named Jeremiah that was dying of cancer.  I went to visit him in the hospital and, before it was over, this young man blessed me more than I comforted him.  Just the way he was without fear and his certainty that, whatever comes, he is ready. He was going to impact just as many people as he could until God took him home.

We seem to forget it could be you that gets the diagnosis that your days are numbered according to a doctor.  Of course God says all our days are numbered and we only have a limited amount of time to make an impact.  If you were to die, what would all the people that know you ultimately remember about you?  I try to live in such a way that, when I look back, I do not want to have regrets.
