Matthew 15:3,8-9,11 reads as follows:
But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.
Taking into account the traditions of men and changing it to fit into our ways today regarding anything the Bible says is so very dangerous. Let’s consider the truth of being wealthy of worldly stuff or having the nicest cloths. For most churches, I believe we take these things into account far too often. This often even extends to the way we treat the Body Of Christ. I believe there are many true Born Again Believers that are without the stuff that most of us have. I don’t want to be a person that steps over the not so pretty people or places because of my flesh.
Take us, oh God, to a new level of understanding today! Help us understand, oh God, the reality of how You dwell within us and want to use us. We don’t need anymore RELIGION, but we do need You to do Your work within us and Your Body today. We hunger for revival but don’t want to change our traditions. Yikes! We must care more about what our heart looks like than what our outward appearance looks like! Are you at the place of Here Am I Lord?
1 Corinthians 15:3-4 reads as follows:
For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures
This is the gospel and this is the truth even though it is not pretty and clean and how we want it to be. We must recognize that it’s because of the hell Jesus went through for each of us that we have any good within us. Realizing daily how much He went through causes me to keep my place on my knees. It keeps me saying thank “You Lord” and “what can I do today?”
Today our feet will step in many different places at many different times. Some people may not leave their house today while some people will travel all day. I am assured though that no matter where we are (if we are truly born again), we are with the Spirit of God. Praise the Lord for that!
