Mark 1:35-36 reads as follows:

And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed. And Simon and they that were with him followed after him.

It’s now on us in the here and now as the ones to follow Jesus. Do we do that though? Do we go and find a solitary place and pray? We are quick to say I will pray, but do we? I’m not happy to admit that I’ve said I will pray for someone and then failed to do that. I don’t want to ever do that again! Sometimes it seems we can find time to do just about anything but pray.

I have had periods in my life, as I’m sure you have, where I’ve devoted time and effort into true prayer with a true heart filled with compassion. That said, if taking record here, how many times do we pray and not have the compassion we should and fail to truly consider what I’m saying. Let’s follow Jesus and do better in this area as His followers.

Prayer changes things

Take time and create a place for you to focus on prayer. Upon doing that, it seems many things will try to steal that time away. Sometimes it’s out of our control requiring us to create another time or place. I know God hears my prayers if I’m walking without known sin in my life. This is true no matter if I stop and have a special place or not, but I know I can and should do better at this.

My life is definitely busy and God knows because He has perfectly placed my kids and my wife in my life. Even still, things within the world should never be an excuse to not do what we should. Consider today how much better could we do in our prayer life. Just a thought!
