Psalm 68:1-3 reads as follows:
“Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him. As smoke is driven away, so drive them away: as wax melteth before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God. But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God: yea, let them exceedingly rejoice.”
This reminded me of wasps following an attack on their nest with chemicals. They fly away, urgently trying to escape until they find it impossible to move any longer. Similarly, the wicked will run and try to get away from righteous judgement but will not be able to. God promises judgement will take place. I see a huge difference between a righteous life and an unrighteous life as I read this scripture. Our options are simple. Walk in guilt, regret and fear of the future or be righteous through Jesus while being glad and rejoicing, even exceedingly so! Praise Jesus! His Life, Death and Resurrection have saved me and I praise Him for that. Because of God, I am able to walk in His righteousness.
What does this mean?
Today is here and a decision needs to be made! We can either walk in our own ways and actions or let go and allow God to take control. I’ve had trouble in the past with letting go and allowing God to take over at times. We routinely want to take control and make things happen NOW, but that’s not always the best option. Many of my regrets have dealt with failing to step aside and let God guide. Instead, pray and be still. Listen for Him. He will speak to your heart in His perfect timing. Keep the Faith and know that He is in control, even if the world makes it out otherwise.
Remember, as John 3:30 tells us:
“He must increase, but I must decrease.”
Love the scripture you quoted here Shane. Truly! We absolutely must decrease and He must absolutely increase. He must be first and lead! It ties greatly into Psalm 68 as, by doing that, we grow in righteousness and, as a result, rejoice before God while being glad! Thank you for these words Bro. Shane! God bless!
